Trainer Jarett Del Bene’s Celeb Emmy Workout

With the Emmy Awards this weekend, Hollywood is stepping up its game to ensure nothing but fab moments happen on the red carpet. There’s makeup and hair to tend to; and, of course, finding the right dress ! But weeks before the Emmys is even underway, Jarett Del Bene tells Us Weekly , celebs start getting serious about their fitness routine. Here’s how Jarett preps his clients, which include Lauren Conrad, Lindsay Lohan, and Nina Dobrev, to look their best before heading down the red carpet. Up the cardio . Typically, Jarett has his clients work out three days a week, doing an hour of cardio each time. But during the awards season he increases their workout by one to two additional hours of cardio each week. Vary the workout . If you want to get fast results, Jarett says you have to “shock the body” by changing up your fitness routine. When he is prepping a client for an event, he makes sure her cardio workouts vary through the week: “One day we’ll do a kickboxing session, the next day we’ll go running or for a hike in the hills, and then the next day we’ll do some biometric training, like jump squats, box jumps, agility drills with cones.” Reduce carbs . If you’re crunched for time, Jarett suggests going on a low-carb diet. To prep for an awards show, Jarett puts his celeb clients on a 1,500 calorie diet. They eat the heaviest carbs in the morning, a shake for lunch, and fish, veggies, and brown rice for dinner. They also have a snack during the day, which is typically a piece of fruit.

Bethenny Frankel Shows Off Postpregnancy Bikini Bod

Bethenny Frankel received a lot of attention after giving birth, but not all of it was good. Three weeks after delivering baby Bryn, she dropped 29 of the 35 pounds she gained while pregnant. Critics commented that she didn’t gain enough while pregnant, and also that she lost the weight much too quickly. Bethenny responded by saying that she didn’t diet after giving birth, but dropped the pounds through healthy eating and going on walks. Well, it definitely worked. Just three months after giving birth, Life & Style has the first postpregnancy pics of the Skinny Girl chef in a bikini. Bethenny told the magazine that she didn’t do anything drastic to get back in shape. She stayed active outdoors, practiced yoga , and worked out to her own fitness DVD, Body by Bethenny . She also made sure to practice portion control: “I’ve really been eating, just not like a crazy person.” The 5′6″ reality star now weighs in at 135 pounds.

Lo Bosworth Gives the "Lo Down" on Her Fitness Routine

For Lo Bosworth, life after The Hills meant working on an upcoming book on dating advice, and starting her own website - The Lo Down . This month, Lo gave readers a peek into what her fitness schedule is like. Given that she’s always talked about fitness being a big part of her life , I wasn’t surprised to find out that she works out at least five times a week. And since the Summer is full of “beach barbecues and bathing suits,” the reality star makes a point to hit the gym regularly. Check out her workout schedule here: Spin (50 minutes, two to three times a week): Lo has often talked about her love of spinning, even if her BFF Lauren Conrad is not a fan . Lo says that she appreciates the instructor’s “drill-sergeant commands and the loud, pumping jams . . . I burn roughly 500 calories in a 50-minute class.” Kettlebells (30 minutes, two times a week): Although Lo pencils in a kettlebell workout two times a week, she says it’s probably more likely she’ll only make it to one. “I hate his class, but it does make my butt less jiggly so I go. It’s hardcore strength training: you lift your kettlebell weight at the same time as you lunge, squat or dance around. It’s hard. After my very first class I couldn’t move for about a week.” Yoga (60 minutes, one time a week): Yoga is another class she dislikes, but still goes to in order to get the benefits. But having a workout partner to go to class with makes things easier for Lo - especially since it’s her sister!

Hilary Duff Is One Buff Bride

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie tied the knot over the weekend, and the bride looked absolutely stunning (although it’s hard to tell from the blurry photos). Not only because of her gorgeous Vera Wang dress, but because Hilary invested serious time working her body. To prepare for the big day, she hit the gym five days a week, following intense cardio routines created by her trainer, Harley Pasternak . Harley told Us Magazine , “Each workout starts with a cardio warm up of jump rope and jogging, then we do a circuit of upper body, lower body and abdominals. We go through each exercise and do about 25 reps. We’ll repeat that circuit about four times and then end with cardio at the end.” Exercise wasn’t the only key ingredient to getting in shape for her wedding day. To hear about her diet and see more photos of the big event read more. Her diet mapped out by Harley consisted of egg white omelets, chopped salads, and her personal favorite, miso black cod.The celeb trainer said, “[Hilary] had a different motivation because she was getting ready for her special day. She’s really noticed a huge difference, practically all over. She looks phenomenal. We trimmed her midsection, so it will be tight. Her arms look amazing.” Tell me, have you ever dieted and exercised to get your body ready before a big event? View 3 Photos ›

Rachel Bilson Thinks Celebrity Body Image Gets Too Much Attention - Do You?

August 3, 2010 by admin

A lot of emphasis is put on a celebrity’s appearance. From style choices to diet and workout regimens, people are interested in how celebs look. At FitSugar, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t a part of this. And on a personal level, I’ll admit that I’m interested in Cameron Diaz’s arm workout , or what Summer foods celebs are snacking on . But we hope these sorts of stories are sources of healthy inspiration, and not cause for insecurity. In the September issue of InStyle UK , Rachel Bilson said that the amount of emphasis placed on celebrity body image is too much. “You know what I hate? The amount of attention that is put on weight and body image. It is so backwards and sends out the wrong message. ‘What do you eat? Do you work out?’ It’s not what young girls should be stressing about. They look up to these actresses and read about plastic surgery and what they do and don’t eat. I eat, I love food, I wanna eat when I wanna eat. If you are not feeling good about yourself, then you work out. But you do it for you.” I love that Rachel Bilson says that she loves food, and that it’s important to work out for yourself. And even though I agree that the media has a huge role in shaping body image perceptions, I hope that it can be a positive one too. (Though I know, unfortunately, that this is not always the case.) I want to know if you agree . . . Rachel Bilson Thinks Celebrity Body Image Gets Too Much Attention - Do You? Yes, too much emphasis is placed on celebrity diet and fitness. No, I like hearing what the stars do to stay healthy.

How Sleep Helped Chris Hemsworth Bulk Up For Thor

July 29, 2010 by admin

I have to give a special shout out to BuzzSugar for her awesome coverage of Comic-Con this year - I felt like I was in San Diego with her! While there, Buzz had the opportunity to interview the cast of Thor , which includes Natalie Portman and Star Trek hottie Chris Hemsworth. Chris - who plays Thor - said this about his physical transformation into the comic book hero. “I put on a lot of weight - I put on about 20 pounds at one point. It was purely eating, eating, eating, working out and working out, trying to sleep as much as you can - that’s the other third of the equation. The eating was the biggest thing; since stopping shooting I probably work out the same but don’t eat as much, and I’ve probably lost 15 pounds or something. Chicken breasts and protein shakes, boiled chicken . . . clean meats, the right carbs. Sickly stuff.” Buffing up for a role is nothing new - Taylor Lautner packed on muscle for his role in Twilight , as did Angelina Jolie for her role in Salt . But Buzz and I both thought it was interesting that Chris cited “sleeping as much as you can” as part of his physical transformation. To find out why sleep is important in maintaining muscle growth, read more. Curious as to why Chris spent so much time sleeping, I called Shaun Gregg - a friend of mine who is also a certified personal trainer. Shaun explained that building muscle is more than just a combination of strength training and the right diet. Proper sleep, Shaun says, provides the body with the energy we need for future workouts. It also gives our bodies time to repair any small muscle tears . But what a lot of people don’t know is that many of the body’s hormones - namely the growth hormone (GH) - are at peak production when we’re sleeping. Shaun says that GH is key in stimulating muscle growth, and maintaining the muscles already in our bodies. So while Chris was napping away, his muscles were becoming that of a Norse god.
